For Your Consideration: 2012 Lammys

I know some of my readers are members of the Lamb (Large Association of Movie Blogs), and if you are, you’ve probably seen that the 2012 “Lammy” awards are in full swing. (If you’re not a member of the Lamb, and you have a movie blog, join up!) The Lammys are awards for the best movie blogging in various categories, and everybody’s throwing their hats into the ring for different categories, so I thought I’d throw mine in there as well. It’s the black felt fedora, just like the Blues Brothers.

I’d be honored and humbled if you were to nominate me for any category, so if you’re eligible to nominate and you are considering Morgan on Media for anything, click on through to see some categories that I think Morgan on Media is appropriate for.

Best Blog: I know it’s a long shot with a lot of competition, but hey, this is one category everybody should at least be trying to be worthy of.

Best Design: I think we all know how tough it is to create a good blog design, one that’s functional and looks good, especially within the limits of the themes available to us. I think I’ve done a pretty good job at a design that’s unique, stylish, and colorful. If you think so too, consider a nomination for Morgan on Media in Best Design.

Funniest Writer: Maybe you like my little quips on the photos, or maybe you like my sarcastic takes on the really terrible films. I know dry humor isn’t for everyone, but if it’s for you, I’m your writer.

Brainiac Award: I iz Schmott Guy! I figure if you think I’m worthy of this, you need no further persuasion on my part, and if you don’t think I’m worthy of a nomination, I’m unlikely to convince you here. See? Smart!

Best New Lamb: Because hey, I’m only going to be eligible once, right?

Best Classic Film Blog: I cover it all here on Morgan on Media, from the occasional new film to the oldest of the old. Most films I review are at least “retro”, and a lot of them are old time classics. Check the decade tags in the tag cloud; I’ve watched and reviewed films all the way back to the 1920s. Whether it’s a modern classic, a retro classic, or a just plain classic classic, it’s got a pretty good chance of showing up here.

Best Running Feature: I put a lot of work into the monthly Favorite Films features, and I’d be very proud to have them nominated for Best Running Feature. And I know a lot of you out there have an appreciation for cheesy schlock, so you might feel that the Morbid Curiosity Files are a great running feature. If you do, I hope you’ll see fit to throw them a nomination.

Best Movie Reviewer: Because that’s what it’s all about, really, isn’t it? Amongst all the other stuff, most of what I do is review movies, and I presume that’s what most of you come here for. Good movies, bad movies, new movies, classic movies… I’m here because I’m reviewing them, and you’re here because you want to read those reviews and talk to me about them. If you think I’m one of the best movie reviewers in the Lamb, I’d be honored if you would nominate me.

Thank you.

  1. That is SNAZZY. LOL.

I made sure you were well represented on my ballot. Although in hindsight I’m embarrassed to say I should have thought of you for the Braniac award and I didnt… sorry. You would have fit well there.

Still, you showed up in a number of slots :D

    • And it was simple to make, too! :D

Thanks, man. I do appreciate it. And of course, although I’m still working on my ballot, you’re turning up in a number of slots on it as well. In fact, one of my difficulties is that since I don’t read a huge number of blogs yet (I think I’m up to about a dozen), and not all of them appear to be LAMBs, there’s probably going to be a lot of repetition on my ballot.

      • Yeah, well… that happens. I had a lot of “repeat offenders” too.

There’s certainly no way I’m going through 1,200 blogs myself, either, so the way I looked at it was – I know most of the active Lambs through either the forums, the Lambcast, or the stuff they submit for the Lamb events.

If someone doesnt get involved to at least that degree, why would we waste a Lammy on them anyways?

        • Exactly. Because in truth, although there are a lot of blogs registered with the Lamb, the actual community is still very small. If I’m not interacting with someone, I don’t feel any obligation to throw them a nod or even to go out of my way to see if they warrant one.
